We are a small organization so I will be able to organize and deliver your course personally and help you plan your holiday.
I have over 20 years’ teaching experience and during that time I have taught English at all levels. I am a graduate of The University of Kent at Canterbury and after my degree, I completed a year’s post graduate teacher training.
I taught English for a number of years in secondary schools and colleges in Colchester and have had wide experience teaching the full range of examinations, and curricula, including language and literature and the development of reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. I have taught students from a wide range of different backgrounds and from a broad spectrum of age and ability.
I have two daughters who have now left home and who are pursuing their studies and careers. My husband is involved in the eco-agricultural hemp industry and travels widely in Europe.
In recent years, I have taught English to adults at a local community college During this time, I decided to teach English as a foreign language and was awarded a CELTA qualification by Cambridge University after a course of study there.
For me, teaching has been a rewarding and stimulating profession for many years. I particularly enjoy teaching English as a second language because I am able to adapt my teaching to the needs and learning styles of individual students, and see the progress they make and the confidence they gain.
As a language student myself ( I learn Italian) I think I can appreciate some of the challenges and rewards that learning a language can bring. I hope that I am sensitive to some of the frustrations and problems we can experience as language students. One of my main aims is to make learning English as pleasurable and stress free as possible.
Apart from my teaching and my family commitments, I have a variety of interests, many of which are connected with the arts, literature and history. I also love travelling in Europe when I can.
I enjoy spending time working on my home and garden and my main relaxation is socialising with family and friends.
